Kevin Groll started his career as a staff engineer with Matco Associates in Pittsburgh, PA in 2004. At Matco, Mr. Groll became skilled in laboratory material evaluations methods, specifically corrosion testing, metallurgy, coating analysis, and plastics. He performed many complex failure analyses and served as a corrosion expert witness in several litigation cases. Mr. Groll served as a staff engineer, group manager, and division manager for Matco and opened their first branch office in Fort Lauderdale, FL.
In 2013, Mr. Groll left Matco to focus on cathodic protection with Matcor, Inc. in Chalfont, PA. At Matcor, Mr. Groll learned cathodic protection and AC mitigation design, dynamic interference testing, and cathodic protection installation practices. He served as the Director of Project Management, Area Manager, Regional Manager, and Engineering Manager.
In 2023, Mr. Groll joined iAMP as the Vice President of Engineering. At iAMP, Mr. Groll has help to build the company’s engineering and field testing capabilities.
Mr. Groll’s advanced skill set includes:
Impressed current and galvanic anode cathodic protection design for piping, tanks, and marine structures.
AC interference modeling and mitigation design for pipelines.
Dynamic interference characterization in complex piping corridors.
External corrosion direct assessment (ECDA).
Mr. Groll is a frequent presenter at technical conferences and is passionate about corrosion education and developing innovative ways to teach basic corrosion and cathodic protection concepts to new field and engineering professionals.
Mr. Groll earned his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from West Virginia University and is a registered Professional Engineer in Pennsylvania. He is also an AMPP-certified Cathodic Protection Specialist.
